Lovely rifle Mitch!  I'm happy to see what I think of as period colour on a longrifle.  Your moon has a bit of a scowl...?  But I like him anyway.

Really Really nice Mitch. Love the whole package especially the thumb piece and tang carving. The wood finish is very sharp. Did you add  tannic acid prior to aqua fortis? Great job!!!            Steve

Thanks everyone your kind words are appreciated.I met the new owner and the range yesterday and the rifle shoots well which is the important part and the new owner was happy!!!!Him and his daughter are going to share it ,her for target shooting/plinking and him for hunting.

StevenV

I did not add Tannic acid to this stock. While I usually do and it's a process i really like I was looking for a lighter color overall on this rifle so I deleted this step on this rifle.I stained it with two coats of my homemade Nitrate of Iron stain, neutralized with ammonia ,then seed lac and final finish.

The man in the moon does look a little "gruff" .he follows the pattern of one on an original Haga rifle........or maybe I was just a little grumpy that day  ;D ;D ;D

Mitch,
Could you share the components, like what barrel was used? Lock?
how much of the hardware you made?
Thanks
I think the rifle is spectacular in every way. Thanks for the pictures!

The barrel is a 42" .50 Getz "Standard Lite",the lock is a Siler ,The trigger guard and buttplate are from Reeves Goehring #4's I belive. I made pretty much everything else except for the trigger and the rear sight.
