Dave Fox started a thread in the Antique Gun Collecting Forum with the following post.

I've a weakness for really long American long rifles. What's the longest-barrelled piece you've encountered. Photos, please.

A number of replies to the above question showed modern-made guns, so this new thread was created for those.  Enjoy.

-Ron

I have a Netting fowling piece with a 72" barrel and overall length of 7'4".

My most recent build has a 48” .45 caliber barrel (new old stock, rifled in 1973). Pales in comparison to the fiddlers piece but I shot a pretty good off hand group with it yesterday. I did have someone seriously ask me how I was going to load it seeing it’s nearly as tall as I am. I told them I just wanderr around in the woods till I find a stump to climb up on.

You got me Fiddler. My Paul Griffith .45 caliber’s barrel is only 62”. It’s fun to shoot but a pain in the you know what to load(20gr 3f + 80gr 1f, .451 ball pocket drill patch) and plenty of elbow room!
