I saw some hooded ponchos made in Ecuador on eBay.  Is it likely that ponchos were used in the north and northeast during the fur trade era?

By north I mean along what is now the Canadian border and north east I mean Ontario and Quebec.
Thanks

My answer would be a more emphatic No.
Maybe IF you were in the South-West, a poncho might be an option (NOT a hooded poncho), but even then, a poncho from Ecuador probably would not be appropriate.

Just curious what blanket capotes have to do with ponchos...?

Also, I wouldn't use a vendor website as a source for historical accuracy. If you do your research, the Colonial style shown in no way resembles what was actually used at the time. Their coats all appear to be based on a boxy reservation-style capote (late 1800's) with optional fringe, hoods & capes.
