Horn size
« on: May 30, 2018, 08:01:26 PM »
There have been several posts in recent weeks about horn size, types of horns to use,..... This is one I picked up at the flea market next to the range at Friendship and made into a powder horn 30+ years ago. Told everyone it was my squirrel horn. Either we had a lot of squirrels or I missed a lot. I'd estimate it holds 6-7 pounds of powder. Just hangs on the wall of the Man Cave.

You could load a cannon with that thing.

My guess,Family Horn, used to refill individual horn ,,remember: the only time you have to much powder is when you are on fire.

You nailed it. That is my mouse pistol, just a .62 caliber smooth bore.

Before anyone thinks this is an original let me state this, only if buying a horn, turning the plug on an electric lathe is original.  We had a shooter in the club that shoot wayyyyyy to much powder in his rifle. I made the horn and took it to a meeting and told people it was Bob's horn. Only way he could make it through a match without haveing to reload his horn.

Well of course it's a squirrel horn. If you take off the base, you could probably put 3 or 4 squirrels in there.
