Photos from the NMLRA Gunsmithing Seminar at WKU
« on: June 15, 2018, 06:12:05 AM »
Another great year of classes! Also another bunch of great folks attending as well as a staff of awesome instructors.  I attended George Suiter's 18th century tool making class this time around, and will post some photos of tools I made there later in another thread - gotta take pics of them first! The seminar is a great place to learn gunmaking skills as well as the related arts.  Hope to see some more of y'all there again next year!

I took the 3 day quillworking class,  and am now completing the Kibler Colonial Longrifle kit in class.  What an experience! I highly recommend taking the courses.

Now for the photos:

Thanks for looking,
Curtis

Thanks for the photos, Curtis!  Another great Seminar with lots of fun learning.  I’d highly recommend this wonderful experience!  Jim Kibler was kind enough to ask me to stand in for him while he and Katherine welcomed Henry into the world.  We had a great class of ten students who did an awesome job of building Jim’s Colonial Rifle kit!

Thanks for the comments guys.  Like many others I cannot recommend the seminar highly enough to do the experience justice!  It has always been a highly rewarding time and a very educational experience for me.

Thanks for the pix Curtis.

Jeff, I saw some original guns that got my juices flowing, as well as some contemporary work both finished and in progress that has gotten some ideas swirling about in my head...

Uh oh,
Ideas swirling in Curtis’ head will invariably result in the creation of some unique tool that we all then will want to copy, as well as some odd challenge that will make us all feel inadequate!
I wait in anticipation of being humbled. Again.

Great pictures Curtis, and thank you for posting them!

Cheers,
Norm

We missed you there, Jim!  Hope things are going well with the new youngster!

P.S. - Your substitute teacher did a fantastic job.

It was great chatting with you again Hank!  It just so happens that it was some of some of your work that has inspired potential future projects...

Thank you for these photos Curtis.

I also recognise a few faces!  I was only there once, in 2003.  I had the best time of my life there!!

Good to see Herschel again, and I Do like his rifle!

Thank you again.
Richard.

Curtis,
Great seeing all the pictures! Missed a photo of Jack Brooks. Was he teaching the Christian's Spring class like he was scheduled to? Good seeing a few old familiar faces. Missed being there but we had other commitments. Maybe next year. Thanks again for all the pictures. Have a Great Summer!

Elkhorne,  Mark Silver filled in for Jack.  Jack had complications with knee surgery and couldn't make it for the class.
