Mike Gahagan's sister rifle
« on: October 29, 2018, 09:38:02 PM »
Thought I would share some pictures of the sister rifle to RCA 19 Mike Gahagan just completed for me. Custom .60 cal Rice barrel, Chambers Dale Johnson lock modified by Mike, Harrison Gunstock wood, BP and TG from Larry Zornes  Mold and Gun Shop, rest of the hardware by Mike. She ships tomorrow and am I ever looking forward to getting it. You may recall pictures of Mike's RCA 19 version made for me was posted earlier. It's gonna be neat to have a pair of rifles made by Mike based on those two rifles. Tim

He’s one fine builder.  You’ve got a real beauty of a rifle there.

Wow, that’s just a beauty!  If it handles like it looks, that just might be the perfect huntin’ rig. I gotta get me a .60...

What a fine hunting rifle!  I love the warmth of the walnut - nicely finished.
.60 cal is indeed a great calibre for a hunting rifle.  My old jaeger has a .60 cal 1:66 twist Don Getz barrel on it, and it likes 86 gr. grains FFg, .595" ball and .022" patch.  It has radiused rifling with narrow lands, and loads and cleans easily.
Mike's a great builder.

Mike I'll do my best to make that happen. You need to come to the Al Ky Show at Joe Wheeler State Park near Rogersville Al in Jan. I'll have both there good lord willing and the creek don't rise. Thanks everyone for the compliments on Mike's rifle. Mike Gahagan is a really talented builder capable of doing about any type of rifle or fowler . If anything he had to hold back to build a fairly simple rifle. I almost asked him to put a panther running down a spear on the TG but held back.😉
