Drawings & Templates by W. Buchele
« on: November 08, 2018, 05:06:09 PM »
I have around 50 drawings, tracings  & templates for patch boxes, tangs, general carving for rifle butts, etc, as done by William Buchele. Trying to figure out what to do with them. Not sure what value they would have. A lot of time invested in these & you can tell done by a talented artist. Would like some feedback from this group, thanks, Jim.

I wonder if the NMLRA museum would be interested.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Might very well be interesting to a museum. Do you know a contact person for them? Jim.

There was a man at the CLA in August who had a whole display of rifles, pistols, and accouterment made by William Buchele. I bet he might be interested. His contact information is on the hang tags on the rifles in the second picture. Looks like W.H. (Bill) Smith at WHS7256@comcast.net.

Perhaps you could take requests to make a collection of Xerox copies and offer them for sale? I would most likely buy one that had scroll work and patch box design

I am not a copyright expert, but if you did not want to sell them, you could scan them and have them posted on a web site to share with the world or donate them to a museum, get a tax deduction and stipulate they post them.

I wonder if Shumway Publishing or James Whisker would want to put them in print?  Perhaps they have other similar content to combine with them.
