My 1st attempt at a powder horn
« on: November 18, 2018, 10:49:54 PM »
Here is my first horn finally completed.  It is a screw tip based off of a couple examples of Northampton horns I found online.  Thanks to Tim, Marc and everyone else for your advice.  There is a lot of work that goes into these things.

First horn?  It looks quite professional. You can wear that one with justified pride. God Bless, Marc

Thanks for the compliments.   I followed Tim Crosby’s tutorial.  The thing is huge. It holds right under a pound of powder.  The quality of the tutorials on this forum make it difficult to take credit.  That little screw tip portion was quite expensive but I now have a lathe in case I ever need it.

I like it, too. So, do you wish it was smaller?

I like it large.  I don't have to fill it as much.

Oh, do take credit Mike - you obviously soaked up Tim's tutorial quite well. You know the old saying about leading a horse to water and not being able to make it drink? Well, you went to the well and drank the cool aid like a champ. Very nice job, may the horn serve you well.

That is a very nice horn.   You would never know it was your first attempt.    Tim provided me a lot of help also,  when I started to make screw-tip horns.
