Lock identification
« on: December 29, 2018, 03:58:12 AM »
Hi All,

I have a custom flintlock I bought about 3 years ago and am curious about the identity of the lock.  I didn't think to ask the builder at the time.
The only mark I see on the inside of the lock is a "D" inside a circle.   Dixie Gunworks maybe?
Thanks.

Go to the Track of the Wolf website, and take a look at their locks. You'll probably find yours somewhere in the mix  :)
My guess is that the mark you describe is that of the assembler of the lock. More than likely a Siler, but that's just a guess based on popularity.

Thanks for that guess, Scott.
I went to the Davis lock website and found a picture of their "Late English" flintlock and mine is a dead ringer of that one.
