Barrel inletting and ramrod channel
« on: January 21, 2019, 07:33:16 AM »
I’ve been reading all over the Internet on inletting barrels and ramrod channels and drilling ramrod holes.  I’m all for doing my own work but I don’t want to tackle this job.   Most of the dealers sites are confusing.  Is there someone on here that currently does this?  With all the advice I’ve received from everyone on here, , I’d rather my money go to  the people on here.

There are several who do that work and a good job of it too. I have use Fred Miller who retired and sold his operation to Dave Keck(Knob Mt.Muzzle loading) and Dave has done a great job on the work he has done for me. There are others who do it too but sense Dave has all of Freds stock profiles I had him do the work. You don't have to have him profile the stock but just do the barrel,RR hole and grove which is the way I go.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

I've used Fred Miller when he was doing it now I use Dave Rase ;). Dave has done an excellent job on my stocks for the barrel channel & ramrod hole and he is on the same coast as I am which makes shipping easy for me ;D.
