A Wolf At The Door Horn, Carved by Tim Albert
« on: February 10, 2019, 08:12:03 PM »
The basic architecture for this horn comes from a horn that was shown in the HCH's Horn Book some years ago. I liked the looks of it and made a similar one up a couple years ago. I sent it of to Tim to carve using his imagination and Did He! This has got to be one of the coolest horns I have ever seen. A lot of Pix but none of them do it justice. He used it in an article he did for Muzzleloader Mag back in the Jan/Feb 2018 issue Living And Dyeing On The Frontier, in it he mentions it is dyed with Strong Tea.
It is about 12" around the out side curve, the Walnut butt is 2 1/4" and held with 8 Iron pins.

Wild carving. Love the wolf head. Would some BriWax (well rubbed off) help pick out some of the details? Super horn. God bless, Marc

That is among the nicest horns I've ever seen.  The "wolf" theme is brilliant.

Wow! That is just stunning and an amazing example of a master craftsmanship.

I know that the powder horn is perfectly useable and would remain so for generations but I would be hesitant to take it outside much less into the field for fear of messing it up.

Interesting horn. In many different ways. One thing I really appreciate is the use of the coloration and grain in the horn. The wolf body is very apparent when outlined.  Well done.

Photo's give it an almost mystical quality, very nice, both the theme and the execution!!!! Would love to see it first hand.
