The scoop on game bags
« on: April 01, 2019, 09:04:04 PM »
It strikes me that they serve a few purposes...

A place to carry game that leaves your hands free.

They keep flies from swarming on the game in warmer weather.

Possibly keeping blood off of your clothes (head shots on squirrel can be messy)

So I guess I need a simple affair with flap and strap  that is of tight enough weave to keep flies off but will still allow some air movement to cool the game. And of course, be washable.

I'd love to see some examples.

Here is an article I put together with a group of artists who are passionate about game bags. Lots and lots of pictures:

Great article Eric, thanks for the link!  Lots of good photos, historical reference, and ideas there!  I guess I’ll be building one for my fowling piece build...🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you for the link. There are some very fine bags in that article. But I think perhaps I was wasn't clear on the subject in my first post.

I was looking more along the lines of a linen haversack for carrying game. Anyone have an example of one they've made or purchased?
