Temporary Peep Sight ...

Iam also a fur trapper ...and that right there is one of my brass Trap Tags ! It抯 on my .62 Foozee De Chasse ....which has a front sight only. I drilled an 1/8 and 1/16 inch peep hole. It抯 easliy adjustable...just bend up or down..left and right. Should be good enough to work up consistent loads from the bench position. Then maybe take some sight measurements and get creative and make a solid rear peep sight..that抯 also removable.

That looks like an extremely smart idea to me.  You have short circuited a lot of misery by making that prototype.  Good move.  God Bless,  Marc

This will probably turn into one of those Murphy's Law situations... It's dirt cheap, stupid simple, and uglier than homemade soap... So it will probably work amazingly well.

And based on my experience, dead animals are usually mum on the aesthetics of the items that killed them. Lol

This could be/would be a great idea for testing load combos for accuracy potential. For us senior shooters any way. Once you find your best shooting load you could sight your gun in to the regular sights with the most accurate load combo.
