Was just wondering if anyone had tried this lube currently using mink oil but down here in florida seems to turn to liquid in the summer. Was hoping someone has tried this.

I use it to prevent rust and it works great for that. I need to compare it to mink oil for patch lube.

Too hot is not a problem here, so I can't help you with that. You could try adding some beeswax to the mink oil.

Thanks will give the beeswax a try really like the mink oil but gets pretty messy when the temperature is in the 90s

Do you have any of Jon's Frontier Lube? It's pretty firm at normal temps. I believe he tested it in extreme cold and heat and it held up well. I know it has no beeswax in it. He doesn't like it.

One thing is for sure. Frontier Lube is a great anti-rust lube. Something that can't be said for mink oil.

I’m in the no bees wax crowd if there is anyway to avoid using it. It can gunk up your barrel under certain conditions. By the way, 90 degrees is a cooling trend in my neck of the woods, so the ambient air temperature, and beeswax patch lubes don’t play well together. I started prelubing my patches so I don’t have to deal with leaky lube containers.

If you need to add beeswax just remember that 10% is the most you can have 5% would be better and it will help solidify your lube.

Thanks for all the feed back .Just ordered some frontiers to try hopefully it will work well if not going to just stick with the mink oil and just deal with it. Accuracy is very good with it .

Why don't you contact Frontier direct and ask them? Let us know what you find out.

Interesting. Those bullseye 'felt' wads look similar or the same as the OxYoke wads, purchased either non-lubed, or lubed with something with camfor in it.
