Hog Bone Knife
« on: April 16, 2019, 01:03:43 AM »
I have a 4 thousand acre hunting lease in south Georgia...longbows and recurves only.  We have a lot of hogs down there and a pile of hog bones.  Straight knife OAL 9 inches with 5 inch blade, forged from 1084 carbon steel, hog bone handle, and tea stained...tippit

That's a nice lookin knife right there. I don't see any pins. How did you construct it?

trentOhio,
A sheath of pig skin would be easy enough as we have plenty of hogs there plus a lot of up & comers.  PS: I don't shoot pregnant  or nursing sows too much fun to watch.

Great looking knife.
I bet if you owned hay fields you'd shoot them all!

madmtmike,
I realize the nuisance and destruction they make...but with that said I love to hunt them with my longbow.  Plus they are always in hunting season year round and 24/7.  I do have hay fields in Aiken, SC...luckily no hogs for now anyway.

James T,
You are right, there are no external pins going through the bone and tang. I have three short internal cross pins in the tang. The tang fits snug in the bone marrow cavity which was filled with JB weld epoxy. With the internal cross pins set in the epoxy, you couldn't pull the tang out without breaking the bone...tippit

Really nice. Simplicity at it’s best and the sheath is it just leather
