File Knife
« on: April 24, 2019, 04:52:50 PM »
I'm sure the frontier blacksmiths really loved finding worn out files.  This blade was forged from 5 inches of that old file.  The steel in the old files make great knives...tippit

Everything got recycled back then especially steel.  Nice taper on the tang. Really adds to the balance of the finished knife.

Not sure how or if I'm going to finish this 8 1/2 inch blade.  My personal hunting knives are Bare Bone blades without any handle material...tippit

Very nice blade -- if it was mine I would put a handle on it - some kind of wood or buffalo horn.;)

Tippit,
Very nice looking and balanced blade. Balances almost to well naked to put a handle on. Good to see you back at it.

Actually Mike, the file knife was made to Not mount a handle.  I didn't drill any pin holes just a lanyard hole.
