Building a Blunderbuss
« on: May 22, 2019, 07:49:23 PM »
Hi Guys!  If I want a Blunderbuss I must build one myself originals is  way to ecpencive for me. So I borrow a Spencer Blunderbuss from a buddy, and I will use it as a guide line and use parts I have laying around. The bronse barrel will be a litle beefier made from 18x42x310mm  Gun metall OM1(CC493K)
Runar

Breach plug will use a Brown Bess plug

I have long staff aperture tang with a spirit level aperture front on mine. I think accuracy would be better if the barrel was a bit longer?

Runar,

I have built a bunch of these now (not that I wanted to but others liked the one I built for myself and wanted one made), but I have always used Ed Rayl barrels.....and none of them had a spring loaded bayonet !  Knowing how you work, I am really, really looking forward to watching you progress on this.

All the best !

Looking nice, Runar!  I envy you the machinery that you have - I've got nothing that would turn a barrel like that.  And it is a very good chunk of bronze.

Just found some pictures of a pistol you need to match this with a bottom of barrel bayonet. Would be set to take on any and all highwaymen then.

You are a true craftsman with all you do. Thanks for sharing all the steps and progress.

Runar,

Outstanding work !!!!!  Is the hinge just dovetailed into the barrel or is it brazed / soldered ?
