A wallet with a different purpose?
« on: June 22, 2019, 06:05:39 PM »
Using a colonial gentleman's style of wallet as inspiration I made a couple of these for fly fishing relatives.  This one is my personal using what was left over of the hide.  Not sure if this fits the definition of this forum, but fishing was certainly done in the 18th century.  If I recall a fishing club/association began in circa 1732 in the Philadelphia area mostly using bait.  Still needed to store their hooks I imagine.   Just different.

That is just neat as heck, and much more stylish than a plastic fly box!  I think every fishing gentleman needs one!

Nice work.  Did you leave it "blonde" to tan up naturally?

God Bless,   Marc

Thanks for all the kind words.

Marc, the piece is darker than the picture (camera flash) as I began with calf that had been sun tanned and then oiled and waxed.  It does look better in person, but will age on its own.
