WTB English/Scottish style Hunting Bag and Horn
« on: July 05, 2019, 04:56:00 PM »
I am looking for a nice handmade hunting bag and RHC horn for an English rifle c1770. I am willing to pay up to $250 +/- for each.

You know Tim, Iím not even sure what Iím looking for to be honest. I guess Iíve got bag/horn money burning a hole in my pocket and a mid eighteenth century English rifle with no accouterments. I suppose I visualize a flat Scottish horn or plain scrimshawed horn and a bag that either appears high end 18th century factory or handmade with a large stiff rounded flap with some sort of design or painted insert.

This is the general idea I think.

Ok, so Iíve bought a Sibley Rev war, Crosby early Virginia, and a Cathy England Scottish Flat Horn (Thanks ALR members for the beautiful horns!) Iím officially all horned up. If you have an English or middle/last quarter 18th century colonial bag appropriate for an English sporting rifle Iím still two bags short of a full house.

You might want to take a look at the "Lyman" style bags, they are English mass produced shot bags.
