The resemblance is striking.  Did your wife also get you an anti-talking collar?

That's not an anti talking collar, that's a "do what Mom says" collar! I just get whooped with a stick......

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

So if we see a stock hung between the ears of a truck haul'n down 75 or 64 we'll know that's Mike dry'n out the finish, assembly on site :D

Maybe I need to get a roof rack on my van before I pick up Mike.  Plan B could be to just mount it on the hood like a big old set of longhorns.

Keep the pics coming Mike. If looking at the pics is too much for Tim then he can mow the yard an weedeat an maybe even paint the neighbors barn. Or Im sure Mrs Cosby can find him something to do

He doesn't mow his yard and he hides from Mrs. Cosby when ever he can so she doesn't put him to work. (He's retired you know) I don't think his neighbors trust him enough to paint the barn....he'd probably talk Mrs. Cosby into doing it anyway.... ;D

The foreman looks like a competent one to me.
Who was it that said,"Now that I know people,

Adolf Hitler but I think it was Winston Churchill.

I figure I have just less than three years to go since this will be one of my best efforts..... ;D It will have just as many feet of wire as some recently posted rifles and far more relief carving.

BTW, BIG round off of the buttstock today and establishment of the patchbox lid and hole, going to be a quite impressive gun when it's done. "God of Man-Son Of Thunder".

PS.....may have sold the old '51 today. happy days may be here again! ;D

Sounding better all the time. That is except for the wait and the lighter wallet part.

You asked what the EDL barrel Mike is using in this rifle weighs. I have an identical barrel and in this configuration the .60 cal. barrel weighs 4 pounds 15 oz.  Had to go to the post office to mail another item and the post master weighed it for me. Tim

It looks like the gun is going to weigh around 8.5lbs. when It's done.

Nope, having "issues with my connective tissues" . Bad inflammation of the tendons in my hands and arms so I'm not getting many hours in right now. I do have a lot of carving on it, maybe a 1/3rd of what I have planned. Upper and lower forestock moldings, buttstock molding, carved panel around the box, got the carving drawn out for behind the cheek piece, worked out the designs for the tang carving, lock panels and comb carving. Got the engraving design pretty well in mind too.
