Any of you gents know where to find sterling silver pistol furniture? I'm looking for parts similar to these? If not, I may have to learn casting.

The only place I've seen them was from Chris Altland-York County Firelocks.  I haven't heard if anyone has taken over since his passing.

Yeah, his website is no longer active. When did he pass?

You can fabricate the pipes trigger guard etc. Repousse (sp?) the butt cap.
Opinions are expensive. Rich people rarely if ever voice their opinion.

Justin,

That grotesque mask buttcap was one of the longest produced I believe.  Seems to be used through a large part of the 18th century.
William Bailes used it in his earliest years, and Twigg used it decades later.

Have brass mounted Queen  Anne with this buttcap;

By W. Bailes, but as you see, converted to cap in working life.

Buy a set made of brass or steel. Any jeweler that does custom jewelry work should be able to duplicate it in silver. Pretty easy job. Won't be cheap but it will cost a lot less than buying casting equipment.

I used a firm to cast sterling mounts for a Jaeger Rifle last year. If I was needing mounts for a pistol with cast art, I would purchase wax's from MLBS and ship them to the foundry.  Just a note, you would be advised to get two or three of each wax needed in case there are flaws. PM me if you want the contact for the foundry.

That's really a brilliant idea. Thanks, Ron.

  That is a great idea Ron. I'll contact Ryan to see if he'll cast me some waxes, and I'll be in touch about getting their contact info. Do they have a minimum for a run?

I'd be interested in a set if that helps the minimum required number or the price.  I saw the castings Ron referred to and they were very nice.

Okay. I'll see what Ryan says, and maybe start a post in the for sale section, and see who else might want some parts cast.
