Thomas Simpson Horn
« on: August 07, 2019, 03:48:20 PM »
The original was at the Alabama show in January and fortunate enough to get lots of photos and measurements. The bowling pin shaped spout plug threads into the collar/spout which is unusual. Metal band at spout for strap attachment. The carving at the base plug only goes around 3/4 of the horn and there is a flush horn band between the base and body of the horn. Red ink was used for scrim and horn was left in natural color. The letters TS were engraved on a silver inlay set into the butt plug which has two rings of rope carving in the cherry. This horn accompanies a rifle which Simpson made for Casper Mansker.

WOW.

I look forward to seeing it at CLA unless Jim Parker snags it on Thursday night. ;-)

That is some nice work. You should be really proud of that one.

Beautiful, just beautiful!  Will you have it at the CLA?

Thank you all for your kind comments. This one will be at CLA and just letting ink dry on a second one.
I told Mark that I was all done and ready for CLA show but can't seem to stay out of the shop.

I would love to see this. Photos only show so much. From what I see, this is a very nice version of the original horn. Great job.
