So in working towards the finish line on my early Lancaster....I need thoughts on the patchbox lid. When I was cutting the dovetail in the stock, I caught some grain changes and long story short, the dovetail ended up wider than I wanted.
I can't really reduce the width of the lid any further at this point.
I know once it's carved and stained, it'll have a different look and likely not look as bad as it does now.
Is it passable?
Do I cover it was a simple brass box? (Which I can't engrave at this point)
Do I patch the dovetail, make a proper sized lid and do an incised border around the box to help cover the you line?
Do I keep it and proceed?
Other suggestions?
