Lock Suggestion

I picked up a barrel at Dixons last summer and have it in place in the stock ready to inlet the lock... Except I don't know which lock to use.  The barrel is a Rice 42" "Squirrel Light" .45 caliber with a 5/16" flat where the lock has to snug up to.  To tell the truth, I've never built a gun around a barrel this light before and would like opinions as to appropriate locks.  The gun will be a contemporary build so I'm not married to a particular style of longrifle or lock (flint).

Chambers Late Ketland or Larry Zornes M&G Classic are great choices.

I agree..... Late Ketland for English influence..... M&G, or small Siler for Germanic.  Depends on what you're planning on styles.

I'd recommend Stan Hollenbaugh's "Ditchburn" lock.

I love the Zornes Classic.  It has a wider bolster if your looking to get thicker lock panels.

I should have mentioned that the barrel has a rather narrow 13/16" breech.  The height of the small Siler lockplate is 7/8".  Since the height of the Late Ketland is nearly one inch, would the Ketland lock still work, architecturally, on the gun?
