Student's Verner

         Last year I started working with a student.  He had built his first longrifle on his own working from a "Verner" kit.  He did a creditable job for a first gun, but having not handled or been exposed to originals had room for improvement.  We cleaned up his first gun as much as possible and were ready to launch into his second gun.  I suggested something more fundamental than the much more advanced Verner build.  Tony insisted that he wanted a Verner and wanted to get this one right.   I noticed the he had a lot of natural artistic talent, was willing to do research, and had a lot of "stick to it" spirit.
He had to travel about 2-1/2 hrs. to get to the shop, then spend a day here, and then travel back home to the Pittsburg area.   The gun is now finished; the only thing he did not do was the engraving which I did for him.  He is honing his engraving skills for the J.P. Beck he is now working on.  The gun pictured below is his second gun, so watch this guy in the future...He is the big guy in the red shirt--usta play football on the U of Pitt squad

 :o :o :o... Wow,..... as good as they come,... !!! ... post his contact info so we can get on his build list before he becomes so famous, his work brings more than my new truck cost,... !!! ... much talent and skill from this young man,... !!!

Fantastic job! Congratulations and you have an excellent instructor that obviously has done a great job of teaching his skills to you. Looking forward to seeing your Beck rifle!

I see what looks like two great jobs. Great job of teaching and another of learning. Nice indeed. Look forward to seeing the Beck.  :)
