dbl barrel percusion shot gun
« on: August 09, 2008, 01:45:30 AM »
found one today in a local antique store. percusion, half stock. back action locks, and walnut stock. the butt stock had an 1 1/2 round hole that had been pluged with almost matching wood. looke almost like an old grease hole. the locks functioned quite well but of course there was considerable shrinkage of the wood to metal fit. no name on barrel or locks that were visable.

If the gun is an export gun from Europe it will surly have proof marks on the underside of the barrels, what you class as a grease hole could have been for caps with a spring loaded lid .
