description of bear pouch
« on: February 03, 2010, 06:59:40 PM »
My newest trial, this is from the Tc Albert book and made my hone variation .I took the Tennessee style pouch made it 2 inches longer. Than i added a welt and a large gusset approx 2 1/2 inches i wanted a droopy look to it , than i made a small bag inside approx 3 inch square for the flint or any little tool needed, it has a inside flap. The front flap has bear fur and i reverse the leather to keep the soft side, now if i was to do this again i would try to use fur from the front legs it think it is not as long and flatter, this came from my fly tying material . Than from page 83 a made the strapping from canvas from an old duffel bag, i could not find strapping  so i fringe the borders than with great attention i wax the center not to get any on the side. The stain is vinegar than some dark brown wax than black wax than a good polish and oiling the leather . The total of the bag is 8 long x 6 1/2 wide. I use white sewing for much of the bag than black for the front flap.
