Patch box engraving pattern
« on: September 03, 2008, 01:51:45 AM »
I hope this works, my first picture post.

Does anyone have an engraving pattern or a photo of the patch box pictured below with the engraving done?  Years ago when I ordered from Don Ead he always included a rough sketched pattern to get you started. I guess this isn't the case anymore.   Any help would be appreciated. I can't draw a straight line without something to copy from.

Thanks,
Bill

It worked!!!! That was easy!

Bill,  Go to muzzleloader builders supply, http://www.muzzleloaderbuilderssupply.com/ and clickpatchboxes, then click search patchboxes and you will see 6 pages of patch boxes, many with the engraving patterns drawn on.  Hope this helps.

Bill, Looks like a Reading Style patch box. Unfortunately a lot of those were left unengraved. However there are a few examples of engraved Reading patch boxes in RCA vol#1 that might help you. If you don't have that book maybe a library nearby would be able to help you.
