I received a newsletter from Track of the wolf today. They stated after October 1st the price of blackpowder is going up 12%
-
Same here...they must have needed to boost their 3rd quarter revenue stream because these increases usually occur at the kick off of a new calendar year...and 12% is not chump change
-
I hear you roundball. The local place I buy powder is already $14.99 a pound. >:(
-
Even at a case price that's at least a buck a can...I need to check my supply level tonight an see if I can order another case or not...have to stay under that 50lb level.
But wait...my grown Son lives nearby...uhmmmmm :)
-
Looks like we may be getting to the price level up here where making your own would pay...
-
Then the price of charcoal will go up. ;D
-
Guess im off to the sporting goods store to pick up a few cans.
-
Always hate to see these increases as I'm sure the rest of us feel.
It could always be worse, and probably will be someday. So as Roundball said,,, "time to check the powder supply."
-
A pound of it still seems extremely reasonable when you compare it to a pound of smokeless.

Read me curious what does a pound of smokeless suppository style powder cost these days ??? Not that I want any ::)

I'll have to check, but I think I was paying 19 or 20 bucks for a pound of H4895 about a year ago....at RMC in Mingoville. I stocked up a bit when the new shipping regs from OSHA were about to come into being.

Almost all ammunition increased in price 20-25% at the beginning of the current year which led many rimfire shooters to start stockpiling that too.
Gold hit a record high yesterday and it's just another sign of the times.
At least there's some marketplace competition.
If some older product can be found sitting on the shelf for less money, then buy it.

This outfit sells both Bulk Goex and also "Jack's Battle Powder" for less money, $185/25 lbs. ($7.40/lb) if purchased in person or at local events in TX, LA, AR & MS, and it costs about the same delivered ($230) as he charges for Goex Bulk bought locally.
Maybe someone could ask him if he repackages Goex Bulk in order to receive big volume discounts which he passes on to the buyer or if it's an entirely different brand of powder.
Maybe Jack's Battle Powder is Goex?
Has anyone tried it?
