Title: Easy Off barrel browning?

After reading Greybeards post I got to thinking, (extremely dangerous) I few years ago a person was telling me that you could degrease a barrel and spray on Easy Off oven cleaner and that it would over a few days brown the barrel.
Has anyone ever tried this?

Why bother to degrease it... EasyOff cuts grease...or so they say..........  What the hey...chlorine bleach will rust it too
