I have a caplock that has M Sells Augusta KY stamped in the barrel im thinking it's a 40 cal. Has anyone heard of this builder the gun needs lock and hammer work. I'm wondering if it's worth doing. I got the gun from my great uncle and he told me that he had a guy working on it and he screwed up the original lock and tried to make a new one but that is messed up as well. The locks look hand made. any info would be appreciated. I may even sell it to invest in a 36 cal flinter.

It sounds like Michael Sells who made rifles in Augusta Kentucky circa 1822 - 1860. Message sent, I'm interested.
