Title: Dunlaps update
Post by: Ezra on July 01, 2008, 04:53:57 PM
Just so you guys know.  I talked with Wayne Dunlap yesterday.  I bought a beautiful piece of quarter sawn curly cherry from him.  He still has some really pretty curly cherry in stock.  He says it is some of the nicest he has had in some time.  Mine is going to Mr. Leply to be turned into a Chambers Smooth Rifle stock.  Oooooh, it's going to be a nice smoothie!  ;D

Correct me if I'm wrong but i believe that "Dunlop" makes tires, "Dunlap" sells wood. ;D

Not that Wayne needs my endorsement, but he really does have some nice blanks.  I picked up a piece of walnut from him a few months back that was beautiful and hard as a rock.  I'm sure he'll have some nice stuff at Dixon's.  Plus, he and Daniel are great guys to work with...

Rich,

You still trying to find a hickory stock?  Or did you find one and it was so much fun, that's all you use now?

Rich,
A day late and a dollar short.

The storms in late May took down a big shagbark across the street.  They finally cut it up and hauled it away this past Monday.  I figgered it was too much work for an old man to mess around with just for ramrod blanks.

I think I found a source of hickory stock blanks.  if anyone else is interested let me know so we can all get a good price.
