A few weeks ago I found a photographic tutorial on how to "age" a new rifle from the stock to the barrell....all the tricks as it were.
I told my gunsmith mate about it and he wants to view it...... as do I again but I can't find it.
This is the only longrifle site I belong to so naturally I believe it is here somewhere..can anyone help me with this????
Cheers

260 reads and not one reply? what am i missing? seems legitimate to me, but i am new here too.
I had to enlist my cycling pals to find a video i had seen and needed to share with an inventive friend--who thought he'd thunked up something new.
it worked.

Welcome to the Forums hookie13 and Wade Patton!!
Aging the/any metal elements, on a longrifle, has opponents as well as advocates and numerous/various approaches and 'recipes,' again, with as many, if not more, opponents and advocates.
The most under-utilized feature on this site, by far and hands-down, is the "Search" feature, which contains an untold wealth of information and photographs (most times) to serve virtually any inquiry.
I can assure you, that no one, here, is an 'elitist,' being standoff-ish, or acting in any untoward fashion. Personally, I am not a builder, but rather a student and 'sometimes' collector and I can assure you that my response is, in content, body and intent, the shortest distance between the two (2) points, on your path.
Good luck!!

Hookie and Wade,
It was a couple of weeks ago, and I am sure if you look up manure it will pop up as a recent post. Normally I would do it for you all and link to it, but I am on a very limited time access to the net, and need to look over the rest of the posts that have accumulated in the last couple of days!
Oh, and welcome to the forum, you will have a great time here!

I don't think anyone's done a tutorial. Here's a couple of threads on the subject. Maybe one of these is what your looking for.
Cheers,
Ken

thanks guys, found some good stuff already.
i do know how to search and do it often, but this here search program plays by different rules. i posted a thread as to such.
problem i'm having is the inability to limit the search to a given word. it treats everything as if wildcards are attached to both ends! using quotes changes nothing.

a fantastic example, with technique, but not a "tutorial"

Gidday from New Zealand,
Thanks everyone for your input and help; what I read was definately a tutorial and as I said this is the only Longrifle site I am a member of and check out daily; therefore I presumed I had seen it here but sadly I am wrong.........@!*%!
Thanks again and keep up with the great work.

Hookie13,
You know you may have clicked on a link from here that took you over to a site that had that tutorial on it. I have found my self out in the sticks chasing down a very intersting trail that one of our members had posted in a related thread. Maybe thats what happened. Welcome aboard!
