A friend just brought me a Lyman GPR with the slotted flash hole liner, really messed up bad. Looks like some one tried to get it out with a center punch. I don't know how these breech plugs are designed. Would there be any problem drilling it out and installing a 5/16 white lightening liner in it's place?
Thanks,
Bill

i would try soaking with penetrating oil or kerosene overnight then try an easyout first.

Why bother soaking it, I can have it out in 5 minutes on the Bridgeport. It has to be retapped.
Thanks for the suggestion,
Bill

Probably a bit late but here's a pic of one if that helps.

I had the occasion to replace such a vent in a Lyman. It was right down at the bottom and forward edge of the pan. So I plunged a mill into the hole, after taking out the vent, moving the hole rearward as far as the existing hole would allow, and then redrilled it for a WL 5/16" liner. It was a vast improvement.

And it works very well I might add! ;)
