I KNOW THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION BUT THAT WOULD BE ALAN MARTIN. THE MAN
IS A GENIUES AND A TRUE ARTISTWITH ANY SCHOOL. NO OFENCE TO ALL THE OTHER GREAT BUILDERS ON THIS SITE, BUT ALAN MARTIN IS THE MASTER OF THE LEHIGH.

Mr. martin stands out in my mind.his work sets the bars on that style.just do not be in a hurry if you want one.he is in much demand.

If it was my money being spent it would go to Eric Kettenburg. His dedication and knowledge clearly shows in all of his work. His research and published articles have helped a lot of people. I think he stands head and shoulders above anyone else producing the Lehigh/Allentown firearms, his knowledge never ceases to amaze me.

My vote is for Allen Martin........... I own one of his guns,........ I like to call him the "Lehigh Jedi". A true MASTER!!

There is a lot in what you said. I think the problem is that Eric hasn't been very active on this board the last two or three years and many of the new members don't know Eric or are familiar with his work. I am always amazed with the amount of knowledge that Eric possesses. It's almost scary how a man so young could have so much knowledge about building long rifles and the work of the old masters.

I can't vote for one particular builder as King of the contemporary Lehigh. I have a Al Martin, Lehigh, and and am having another one built buy him. I also have Lehigh's, and other guns by Eric K. Nate Mckenzie, Keith Lisle, Steve Bookout, and Hershel House, and Bill Shipman. I wouldn't think twice about commissioning, any one of them, along with some others to build me a Lehigh. The reason is simple, they first ask the customer the right questions, do the research on the build, don't compromise on the correctness, and get it right, unlike other volume builders that while building an OK gun, just give a customer what they want regardless of it being correct as to history. There are guy's like Ken Guy, and Keith Lisle better known for Southern guns, that I would have no problem asking to build me a Lehigh, because i know they will put in the time and research to build a correct gun. I guess what i'm getting at is that the really good builders, that you want to spend big bucks with, have the integrity to push back a little to make sure you get a quality product, that's more than a few hundred bucks in parts, a few thousand in labor, that doesn't end up a four hundred dollar gun, because it's not correct. lest I forget him, I would add Lucky RA as well as a few others I would commission.
