Last May I was asked to build a left-handed rifle. I used a Track of the Wolf Southern Mountain pre-carved stock I'd had about 10 years, a 15/16 x 42" .50 Rice barrel and a left-hand L&R Classic lock. A Lechler patchbox with a toeline release and combplate, silver thumbplate and pin escutcheons. 13 1/4" length of pull and a handmade single trigger. White Lightning flash hole liner. Blued steel parts and a weight of 10 1/2 pounds. I was able to make only one range trip to sight it in. The customer also bought from me a right-handed .50 flintlock with a Chambers Classic lock (much better) and a 42" B weight Rice barrel, weight 8 pounds, 2 ounces. This is the rifle shown in my tutorial, page 2, "Cutting Sight Slots by Hand and Fitting Sights". This was a Christmas present for his 16 year old son. I included wool rifle cases from www.fortboone.com here in Vernal.

Very nice work, Herb! I'll bet the recipient was one very excited 16 year-old lad on Christmas morning. :)

Sir you did some fine work there. I bet both are happy campers ;D

Both rifles are really nice, I like the similarities, and the differences that make them both unique and individual.

Being a 'southpaw', it's not often I get to see a right/left comparison of similar pieces.
Very nice work.
Thanks for showing.

Very nice! That's a lot of difference in weight........

Very nice Herb! Except for a couple of minor differences they almost look like mirror images of each other! Definitely a pair to be proud of!
I'm sure the son was beside himself with getting a gift like that!

A very nice job on both of them!
Your right hand gun has almost an identical patchbox to that on one of my oldest rifles!
