Title: Reeves Goehring castings
Post by: Robby on March 19, 2013, 04:33:14 PM
I have the listings for the castings he offers. Are they pictured anywhere showing them individually? I'm making a Hudson Valley fowler. I know he offers both the B/P and T/G for HV fowlers but not having seen them, I don't want to get locked into a configuration that I cannot modify to suit my needs. So I was thinking that maybe the Brown Bess B/P and T/G might be a better choice. Then I can Beat them around and file them to fit what I'm doing. Are the Brown Bess parts close to the ones offered by TOW. Nothing wrong with TOW castings in general, but sometimes, especially on the larger stuff, I have gotten castings that more resemble bronze in that they do not anneal and bend like real brass, and especially those butter soft castings that Mr. Goehring offers. Thanks.

The HV fowler plate is huge.

Send me your email by pm and I can send you a Reaves photo of his BP's.

The HV buttplate Reeves sells most has a big bulb at the heel.  He sells a square-backed guard and another Dutchy guard with pointed finials as well.

The Bess parts Reeves have are pretty nice, and made from the same soft brass.
