Title: RCA #65
Post by: pushboater on March 20, 2013, 09:01:56 AM
I currently don't have access to my RCA's and was wondering if anyone had studied and/or had information on the buttplate of RCA#65?  Specifically I would like to know the width of the heel extension just behind the thumbnail and the maximum width at the butt. Also, does anyone have a photo of the buttplate taken from behind the rifle showing the general shape if the buttstock?  Eric Kettenburg has some nice photo's on his web site but nothing taken from the back of the rifle. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

. . . and the maximum width at the butt.

Are you asking about the width of the tang at the heel, or are you asking about the width of the buttplate itself? The latter, according to Shumway, is 1 3/4".

1 3/4" on the width of the buttplate itself.  Thanks.  Also, I was trying to find some information on the heel extension that runs along the top of the comb and terminates in a thumbnail finale. I was trying to find the width of the extension just behind the thumbnail finale which would basically be the width of the comb at that point.  Thanks again Elnathan.
