Title: Dane's new build on blog
Post by: Gary Tucker on September 21, 2013, 03:24:30 PM
I hope everyone checks out Dane's new build on the blog.  Fantastic!!  I love the way this early Berks Co. rifle looks.  The color is beautiful, the workmanship is top notch, and this rifle just begs to be taken out and put to use.
I think it's very difficult to bring oneself to build an early piece such as this, because a lot of the accepted characteristics of the longrifle hadn't been evolved and sometimes the acceptance of the style and features may not be appreciated by anyone other than serious students of the longrifle.  I probably didn't communicate that thought very well, but what I mean is, how many people, other than us, really would like a cheekpiece like that on a new rifle?  I love it.  I'm building a couple of early rifles for a fellow and I hope I can pull off the early features half as well as Dane did.
Great job Dane.
