There are some great classes being offered again this year, by some of the best instructors out there. A couple of the instructors are members of this site, Jim Kibler and Ron Scott. I highly recommend the classes to anyone wanting to learn more about building longrifles.
From the NMLRA Website:
"Registration is now open for the 33rd Annual NMLRA Gunsmithing Workshop and Seminar, hosted by Western Kentucky University. 3, 6 and 9 days classes will be held covering topics such as "Conservation and Restoration of Period Arms", "Longrifle Relief and Incised Carving" and "Woodbury School of Iron Mounted Gun Making". Well known names will be providing instruction such as Hershel, John and Frank House, Jim Chambers and Wallace Gusler. To ensure a positive learning experience, class size is limited and they often fill up fast. Don't wait to register!"

Don't forget Ian Pratt who pokes his head in hear now and then. He will be offering a class on finishes and aging techniques which is sure to be a hit.

Thank you Jim, I overlooked Ian and I knew better! I was very much considering his class but I really need to work on my engraving. If I missed anyone else, someone please chime in!

Yep, I'm heading out for Wallace's carving class...took engraving with him three years back...made a world of difference. Big plus is being able to study some of the originals and others work in the gun room. Great to chat with all the folk too

Best course I have ever had the pleasure to take. These are well worth the money spent. Wish I had the freedom and extra bucks to make the trip again. If your on the fence about whether its worth doing it or not I can guarantee you will not be disappointed if you make the investment.

I will be in that class also. Been waiting at least a dozen years for Wallace to teach carving again. I too took engraving from Wallace years ago.
