Title: R. A. Noyes?

A friend of mine has a fine rifle that is engraved on the top flat  "R. A. Noyes  No. 15    1984"     Anyone know this fellow or anything about him?  The rifle is a fine piece with carving and engraving very well done.   I'll get up some photo's later.    Thanks
