of a builder named Dave Weir? This would be Pennsylvania, mid- to late-1970's

I found that name scratched on the inside of the sideplate of a .50 rifle I have become the owner of.

Of course, it could be a previous owner, but I thought it was curious that he scratched in the year as well.....

The name rings a bell, could be from Catawissa, or my bell could be broke.
