Title: Possible NC rifle signed J * G or L * G

A friend of mine came across the rifle shown below. The previous owner (now deceased) attributed it to James Gillespie (NC/GA) but I feel sure this is not a James Gillespie rifle. I have no clue as to who may have made the rifle nor what area of the country it was made. Its spent a number of years in GA but where it was prior to that I don't know. Thought maybe some of you might recognize some of the traits. Sorry but these are all the photos I have, nothing showing the full length rifle.

Its now a half-stock but seeing that poured pewter nose cap (doesn't go with rest of the rifle) and that entry pipe (may have been reused from when the rifle was a full stock) I suspect it was a full stock rifle when first built.

This rifle was made by Jacob Yeager, Birmingham, Warriors Mark Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.

Thanks for that information. I think I have a book with Huntindon County PA in it so will check and see if any of his other rifles are shown.

As a side note: we had three Jacob Yeager rifles at the Huntingdon County Longrifle Exhibit last month.

Finally found my Huntingdon County (among others) book by James Whisker and Larry Yantz, no Jacob Yeager rifles shown in the book but there were many in the book that show many of the same traits this rifle has. No question in my mind that Mark has correctly attributed this rifle. Thanks Mark.

Aren't ALR members terrific, that took a little over 2 hrs for someone to ID!

ALR is great. I like how Mark bombed in with the ID so positively. He KNEW.
