Title: S. Russell Jackson Miss
Post by: Majorjoel on September 21, 2014, 01:38:29 PM
Over the weekend I ran across an old gun barrel that was stamped with this makers name and locale. The barrel was approx 35-36" long, full octagon straight with an under rib and two r/r thimbles. Also had twin staples and would have been for a two keyed halfstock similar to the Hawken style rifle.  Has anyone any information about this gunsmith; S. Russell from Jackson Mississippi?

Major Joel, There was a Col. Samuel Russell who served at Vicksburg, don't know if it could be same person, I've lived in Jackson for 72 years, I would be interested in your barrel if you willing to dispose of it.....Carl
