Here are three more horns that I finished up. The 4th pic is that of the stopper to #1.

Beautiful job Tim. I especially like the banded horn, are the ribs applied or carved out of the horn, either way, real nice!!!

I have to agree with Mitch, I like the stopper. And I'm partial to that banded horn. I assume the tip area is applied? Great job on all of them.

Very good looking horns. With everyone who has said they like the banded horn best, maybe you should take the third horn and put some bands on it.

Tim, a question for you. Do you dye your horns before or after installing the base plug?
-
Thanks for the comments, I am glad you like them.
The bands are applied (cut from other horns) They take some time in getting the right size bands together.
Most of the time I color the horn and then put the fitted plug in but for one reason or another I have colored them with the plug in. Mostly just to see how they come out. If you color with the plug in you run the risk of it expanding and cracking the horn, not a good day when that happens.
And yes the tip is held on with small nails, it is horn.

Very nice indeed Tim. I hate to sound like an echo, and I do like them all - but the banded one certainly does catch one's eye! All are really well done.
-
Tim,
Somehow I missed your horns until this morning. I like them all but I especially like the third one. The color you ended up with is great. Is this one for a customer?

tim,are you going to be set up at the trade fair again this year in lodi????i would really like to get one of your horns.....
-
You all back off, that's my banded horn, right Tim? Real nice work man
-
Ian, that horn is about 16" around the outside curve, the base is about 2 1/2". The base, held in with pins, is walnut with oil on it as is the stopper, the strap holder is a staple with a ring in it, the tip is horn. We have been talking about a horn for you for a while if this is the one you got it. I'll hold it till I can catch up with you. (They are calling for 4-8" up you way on Sat so I probably will not make it)
Pletch, no that horn is not spoken for.
Yes Chris I hope to be at the Fair in Oct.
And Thanks again to all for looking and the nice comments.
