Gents have been knocking off the odd rabbit in our 2 1/2 acre garden for the last few weeks. Managed to get a good bead on a fat coney this evening, about 30 yards away from the back stoop on the mother in laws cottage, snuck down in my socks, cocked and locked, peered around the corner, drew a fine beed, squeezed off, and @!*%, off he belts, I go down for a very optimistic look, and low find a hand full of fur scattered about were he was squatting. I must have just ever so slighly pulled the shot and burned him across the top of the shoulders, I was shooting down hill. About as close as you can get without getting a feed. I am using an old flintlock .36 squirrel rifle, gifted to me a while ago. I replace the Russ Hamm lock with a drop in L and R after getting it tuned. Nice fast lock time and pretty reliable ! Much more fun than just weeding the garden !! ::)

"IF" you're going to bark those bunnies like that, you need a bigger caliber! ;D
.62 cal. maybe. ;)
A little large for body hits, but better for near miss shots. ::)
Kind of like a cannon ball, hitting the chair, that you are sitting on.
Have a great day! Eh?
From Canada!

Ya beat me too it, Fred. I find the .69 barks 'em very well indeed. The larger the ball, the 'sloppier' you can be. ;)

And...you never know if or when you'll have to stop a charge. ;D

Bloody Rabbits with Big long nasty teeth!!.

Too funny ;D rabbits must be real big in your neck of the woods, perhaps its time for the Holly hand granade.
-
Are those hopalong's any good to eat?
-
If they're as big as those jackalopes out west then step up to 20mm ;D

Fred, used to bounce musket balls off rabbits when I was a kid, using an old Pat 1842 percussion musket with a patched ball. I remember shaving the top off a rabbits head as a near miss, bit horrifying really as it was not dead, till I picked it up and cracked its neck! These rabbits are pretty shy, have shot several, whilst sitting in my rocker on the back stoop of our little house. Three in the freezer thus far. ;D

Dress them out and put 'em in the crock pot with beans, onions, and some broth and you'll have a fine supper by evening.

That must be the lock you told me about a few months ago.Looks good and I'll bet that critter would agree that it works too.

Bob, you are right that is the lock, and it is very fast and reliable. I still have to finish the outside of the lock. Have a bunch of wet and dry but just have not had the time as yet.
Trust you are keeping well. My wife got home a little later and was best pleased at another buggs in the fridge, and one less in her garden.
cheers

PS now Thursday, 0600 took a walk down to my team roping arena, nailed another ususpecting buggs bunny, this time at only 20 yards, and yes through the head. Old Uncle Dean would be ever so pleased !!!! Pity it is not a deer, but its the best I can do, as the kangaroos around here are all pretty much paddock pets !!
PSS now the 20th, got another bugs last night, chest shot as he stood up! 6 in the freezer now ! the war office is ever so pleased !! ;D
