Title: TVM build almost complete
Post by: BigBuckeye on January 09, 2016, 07:19:55 AM
Ordered this rifle about 9 months ago.  Looks to be almost completed.  Still need to do the engraving on the dial on the wrist.

Here are the details:
TVM Tennessee style
Aged iron furniture
.45 swamped barrel

That looks to be a very nice rifle, BigBuckeye.  Mine's a .32 poorboy but looks to be from the same litter as yours.

Curious about the vent pick and its holder.  Did you make that or purchase it?

To be clear, this is being built by TVM.....I'm just writing the check.

I love this Southern mountain rifle. It looks so right in so many ways. The one issue I have are the sights. The high buckhorn rear sight, and the beached orca front sight, really kill the feel of a true Southern mountain rifle. IMO that is.

While I find buckhorn rear sights to be very versatile, I had to remove the buckhorn from my Tn .32 and install a higher plain one.  Had to replace the front before it was over, too.  I could not sight it in as fitted and filed the front down too far in my quest.  I like and know how to use buckhorns but sometimes the gun/sight combo doesn't work out.

BigBuckeye, I hope yours line up well.  That is a beautiful .45.
