I've bought two Rayl,10", swamped,steel, pistol barrels from Stone wall creek outfitters. I plan to make a pair of Wogden/Twigg inspired duellers.
I've got some chunks of English English walnut (from a tree cut down in a garden in Bristol,England), left over from a furniture project that I can use. But, they are pretty boring. They are straight grained with almost no figure or color.
Who would you recommend for fancy pistol stock blanks in walnut or curly maple?
I'd like the grain to follow the grip curve.

Freddie Harrison always has very high grade curly maple blanks that are cut so that you can make a pair of pistols from one blank. This assures that the color, layout, etc. match, but the curly wouldn't look quite right on a pair of English style duelers. You should remember that most of the English pistols don't have much color or figure in the blanks. When selecting blanks for a pair you need to remember that for the color to match they need to be cut the same way and should be as close to quarter sawn as possible. I recently needed some English walnut blanks to restock a pair of 1771 Wilson holster pistols - don't ask why - I had a major wood supplier try to find two shotgun blanks of the same general color and layout - with a little curve to follow the grip. He looked through several hundred shotgun blanks without finding two that were sufficiently close to use for a pair of pistols but finally found one blank that would do for a pair with one pistol stock stacked above the other. As it turned out I haven't used that blank but rather bought a relatively plain Turkish walnut rifle blank that would do nicely for the pair. There are some others in their $250 or less section that would also do that are about $100. Thanks for the tip Tom. But I think I better mention my budjett is 150$.
Thats why I was thinking more in the way of som type of american walnut or curly maple.
I'll post som pictures of the english walnut I have tomorro. It would be nice to your opinion of it.

I have bought quite a few high quality pistol blanks from Freddie for around $100.00. They all had good figure and grain through the wrist.

Take a look at Goby Walnut's web site. They have a pretty good selection of both Black Walnut and English Walnut. I picked up a piece of Black Walnut suitable for a pistol with curved grain the butt in their miscellaneous bin for $2 a pound.

Its nice if you can get a piece of plank and cut them both from the same board same grain lay out etc.

For curly maple, try "Tiger Hunt", tell him your making a set of duellers and he will match them, and well within your budget.
