I have a pair of T/C Hawkens one in .50 and the other a .36. I have been wanting to try a Flintlock. I am wondering about the possibility of converting one of these rifle to a Flintlock. Can it be safely done? Would I be better off building a third one?

I used to have a TC Hawken and changed back and forth between cap & flint by changing the
breech plug and lock. Kept this up for a whole year. The flint verson was a whole lot more accurate.
Wife has a TC Hawken that was a flint. She changed to cap by screwing in a drum where the touch
hole is and putting on a cap lock. Had to heat and bend the hammer a little and cut out the plate
around the drum. Works fine. Never could convince her that flint was more accurate though.

Build or buy another one. You may bre able to get the parts from a supplier of replacement parts from Track of the Wolf but they are not inexpensive. As stated, you need a breech plug and lock.
