Title: 6 gauge
Post by: JPK on March 12, 2016, 06:54:05 PM
My friend has a English single barrel percussion shotgun marked "Fredrick Sharp, Arundel" on the barrel. It's in fine condition with London proofs on the under side of the barrel. We would like to know about Mr. Sharp and when he was making guns. Details of the gun are no engraving, back action lock, patent breech, brown barrel, ebony ram rod, light colored walnut stock and the mountings are ether light colored brass or perhaps German sliver. Thanks.

He's not listed in any great detail in any of my sources and is not even mentioned in most. However, he is listed as active around 1858-1866 in Arundel, Sussex, England in Heer Der Neue Stockel. Here is are some rifles signed by him:

It is inscribed with the coat of arms and motto of the Marquess Curzon of Keddleston and has belted rifling.
